Menu options

This template features several advanced menu options:

  • CSS menu (suckerfish)
  • Dynamic jQuery menu
  • Usability friendly Sidemenu

Menu options explained

Both the CSS menu and the JS menu are built with (X)HTML valid unordered lists (li tags within ul tags) and real links. This ensure that search engine robots crawling your website and visually impaired visitors using a screen reader will find their way on your website. An added benefit of using nested ul-li tags is that it signals the search engines about the structure of your website, allowing it to index your content better.

Choosing the right menu for your website

The CSS menu and JS menu share many features, but have some distinct features that set them apart. Sources on the web show that (depending on your target audience) between 90% and 95% of your visitors will have Javascript enabled in their browser. Using the guide below to find the right menu type for your website.

CSS menu
  • Works when Javascript is disabled by the visitor
  • Elegant hover effect
JS menu
  • Fancy sliding effect
  • Built-in delay to prevent the menu from snapping away on accidental
  • Bounces back when edge of screen is reached
  • Falls back to CSS menu when Javascript is disabled
Side menu

This template features a custom styled side menu. Using styles based on the depth of the page relative to the homepage, items are highlighted darker or lighter. This enables users to navigate your website faster and improve their knowledge on how pages relate to each other.
