Upgrading a template

Custom changes might be lost when you upgrade your template!
Carefully read the guidelines below for the version of Joomla! that you use when you're considering to upgrade your template to a more recent release.

Upgrading a template while using Joomla 1.5

By using custom.css for custom style changes you can keep your custom CSS rules intact when you're upgrading to a newer version of a template. However, changes made to other CSS files or files like HTML overrides, templateDetails.xml, index.php etc. will be lost. Any changes made to the template by using the Joomla! Administrator (such as choosing a new preset style) will also be lost.

Upgrading a template while using Joomla 1.7 / 2.5

By using custom.css for custom style changes you can keep your custom CSS rules intact when you're upgrading to a newer version of a template. However, changes made to other CSS files or files like HTML overrides, templateDetails.xml, index.php etc. will be lost. Any changes made to the template by using the Joomla! Administrator (such as choosing a new preset style) will remain intact.

Step by step tutorial

After carefully reading the above, you can take the following steps to upgrade your template:

1. Check the changelog on our website to see what the latest version of your template is.
2. Find out if you aren't already running the latest version of the template ('Template Manager' in Joomla 1.5, 'Template Manager > Templates' in 1.7).
3. Download the latest version of the template via the download link we've sent to your email address after you purchased the product.
4. Unpack the file you've just downloaded.
5. Use the 'Extension Manager' in your Joomla! Administrator to install the new version of the template.
6. Confirm that the update was successful by checking the version number in the 'Template Manager'.
